¶Weekend hours may vary depending upon demand.
We are unable to see your child in the office after regular published hours. If your child needs to be seen during hours when the office is closed, we recommend evaluation in a local ER.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your actual appointment time. This will give us sufficient time to update our records and check your child in.
If you are unable to make a previously scheduled appointment, please call at least 24 hours in advance to cancel. This will allow us to use that time for another child.
It is critical that we have the most up-to-date insurance, address, and phone information available in our computer system. This will assist us in providing you with information that may be necessary to deliver timely care to your child.
After Hours
A pediatrician is always on call for emergencies and urgent problems that arise after office hours. To be connected with the on-call doctor, call 530-676-7337. If you have a true emergency, call 911.
Well Child Exams
Well child exams are designed to periodically evaluate the growth and development of your child. These visits are generally timed to coincide with the recommended childhood immunizations and give us the opportunity to intervene early if any problems are detected before they become serious. Please bring your child's immunization record to each visit so we can review it to ensure all recommended vaccines are given on time and update the record when new vaccines are administered. See the schedule below for details. Viewing the immunization information requires that you have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer. Click here to get a free copy of the Reader.

Circumcisions
Male circumcisions are typically performed after release from the hospital within the first 2-3 weeks of life. Appointments are usually made some time following the evaluation 2-3 days after discharge from the hospital. We perform circumcisions in our office Monday through Friday at 8:30 a.m. We ask that you not feed your newborn later than 6:30 a.m. the morning of the procedure; this will ensure an empty stomach during the circumcision. We use a topical anesthetic cream that is applied at home prior to the procedure. Ask your pediatrician for a prescription ahead of time so it can be applied 1-2 hours before the circumcision appointment. For further information on the pros and cons of circumcision, visit the American Academy of Pediatrics web site for details. You may also view a more detailed policy statement on circumcisions from the AAP. If you have any further questions about the procedure you may discuss your questions with your pediatrician.
Sports Physicals
All children participating in competitive sports are required to have an annual sports physical. We recommend you complete these exams early in the summer months when scheduling is easier to accomplish. Any incomplete immunizations can be accomplished at this time. We often will perform routine tests such as a urinalysis, vision/hearing screening, and evaluation for anemia. For any questions, call 530-676-7337. Please bring your child's immunization record to each visit so we can review it to ensure all recommended vaccines are given on time and update the record when new vaccines are administered.
Acute Illnesses
Should your child develop an illness that requires a clinic visit, please call the clinic where you plan to visit and they can schedule a time for your child to be seen. We strive to give you an appointment the same day you call so we can ensure your child receives the care in a timely fashion.
Chronic Illnesses
There may be times when your child may have an illness that is more complicated and that may require routine care to optimize your child's health. These illnesses are best managed by individuals that specialize in the treatment and management of pediatric-specific disease. We have four board certified pediatricians and one nurse practitioner to take care of your child's needs.
Specialist Referrals
There may be occasions where your child needs specialty care that is beyond the scope of primary pediatrics. We can assist in coordinating necessary referrals to ensure your child receives specialty care in a timely manner. Some health care programs require prior authorization before the services can be rendered. This often requires extra time, so be patient with our staff. Some specialty care may not be available through your health care program. If you have any questions about your benefits, please contact your program for details.
Hospital Care
We believe that a pediatrician is uniquely qualified for in-hospital care. When your child is born or if he or she requires inpatient care, we offer trained pediatricians that can help your child recover when hospitalization is necessary.
Hospital Affiliations
To better serve you, our pediatricians have privileges Mercy Folsom. Click on the hospital name for further information.
Prepartum Visits
Not every practice is the same. We feel strongly that parents choose a pediatrician who best matches their expectations. If you are an expectant parent, we encourage visiting with us prior to the delivery of your baby. We offer this free service to give you the opportunity to visit with the office and professional staff so you will be comfortable with your choice of pediatricians.
Advice Nurse
There are times when you may have concerns about your child that may not require an appointment. To help in these situations, we have an advice nurse available each weekday to answer most of your medical questions and to assist you with caring for your child at home. You can look through several topics that the advice nurse has been discussing lately by clicking here. If the nurse is unable to answer your question, she will consult with a pediatrician and return your call at a later time. If the problem requires direct involvement by the physician, he/she will call or request you make an appointment for evaluation. All calls will be returned at a time appropriate to the urgency of the question, which may range from within 15 minutes for an urgent concern or at the end of the day for a routine question. You may contact the advice nurse Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 530-676-7337 and follow the prompts .
Because statements and billing costs have become so expensive and because we do our best to keep all medical costs down, we ask that you pay for the office visits and treatments at the time the service is rendered. We accept many insurance plans for direct payment, therefore, the designated co-payment or deductible will be collected at the time of the visit. As a courtesy, we will bill your insurance company for you and assist you in any way we can in the collection of your insurance benefits. However, responsibility for payment is your obligation. Any financial benefits you may receive from any insurance company is strictly a matter of settlement between you and your insurance carrier. Any monies received by us from your insurance company will be applied to your account balance or refunded to you. The following is a general list of insurance programs we accept. It is best to call us if you have any questions about your insurance plan and specific coverage so we can ensure services rendered will not lead to unexpected costs for you.
This is by no means a complete list. Call our billing department at 530-676-7337 for more details on other programs that may not be listed above.

For your convenience, we accept the following forms of payment:
Cash, Check, Mastercard, or Visa
